The Uzbekistan national football team lost a friendly match against the Netherlands 2-1 at the Icahn Stadium in New York.

In the first half, at the 32nd minute, Cody Gakpo converted a penalty to open the scoring. Uzbekistan struggled to create chances in the first half.

In the second half, the Uzbek team played more actively. At the 87th minute, Gus Til was sent off, leaving the Netherlands with ten men.

At 90+2 minutes, Igor Sergeyev equalized. However, the draw was not to last: at 90+7 minutes, Gakpo again scored from the penalty spot to seal the victory.

The Netherlands dominated possession with 65% compared to Uzbekistan's 35%. They also led in shots (15-8) and shots on target (4-1).

In the current FIFA rankings, the Netherlands are 7th, while Uzbekistan is 50th.

Uzbekistan previously lost a friendly to Canada 2-0.

Uzbekistan's first match in the World Cup will be on June 18 at 8:00 AM Tashkent time in Mexico against Colombia.
