The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding. The document was adopted as part of a high-level business mission to Central Asia led by John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The memorandum aims to further develop cooperation between the business circles of the two countries, strengthen trade and economic ties, and expand investment partnership. Negotiations between the parties began in March this year during a visit by Uzbekistan's Ambassador to China, Farhod Arziyev, to the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
Under the signed memorandum, the Uzbekistan-Hong Kong Business Council will be established. It will serve as a platform for establishing regular dialogue between entrepreneurs of the two countries, forming new business contacts, promoting joint projects, and expanding cooperation in trade and investment.
In the future, the parties plan to intensify practical cooperation by organizing business forums, B2B meetings, experience exchange events, and trade missions. According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this agreement will help create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan and Hong Kong, increase bilateral trade volume, and strengthen investment partnerships.
It is worth recalling that on June 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They discussed a cooperation program aimed at developing education, tourism, and business exchanges, as well as establishing direct flights and consular services for citizens.
