Uzbekistan has announced a major reform of its military registration system. Defense Minister Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov stated that young men who turn 16 and receive an ID card will be automatically registered for military service, with data transferred from the Interior Ministry's information system.
The current procedure of undergoing medical commissions at military registration offices is abolished. All medical examinations will now be conducted at district (city) central multidisciplinary polyclinics.
According to a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, housing rental compensation for servicemen serving in Tashkent and Samarkand has been increased by 25 percent.
Salaries of civilian employees of military commissariats will be raised by 20 percent from July 1 of this year, and by an additional 50 percent from January 1, 2027.
The minister noted: 'Our esteemed president approved all proposals and gave a number of instructions to intensify work in this direction.' The reforms aim to introduce a 'zero bureaucracy' principle and digitalize military registration, medical, and draft commissions.
