️ On May 13, the Criminal Court of Kattakurgan District in Samarkand region heard the case of 32-year-old citizen N.M., who fought on the Russian side in the Russia-Ukraine war. According to court documents, N.M. was recruited in Moscow in November 2024 into the Russian Armed Forces.

️ N.M. served from November 9, 2024, to January 2026 in combat operations in Russian-controlled Luhansk. He served as a private in the 291st Regiment, 3rd Battalion, 58th Army of the Russian Ministry of Defense. A forensic medical examination revealed shrapnel fragments in his left shoulder, indicating injuries from explosive weapons.

️ In court, N.M. stated that on November 8, 2024, he was detained by Russian law enforcement in Moscow. As he had no registered residence, he was fined 5,000 rubles. The next day, when he returned, he was told that a military service contract had been signed and was taken to a training center near Moscow.

️ N.M. participated in hostilities against Ukraine from November 2024 to January 2026. In June 2025, near the village of Sadova in Ukraine, he was wounded in the left shoulder and leg by a drone attack. After 20 days in a military hospital, he returned to his unit.

️ In January 2026, he went on a one-month leave and arrived in Moscow. Contacting the Uzbek embassy, he learned there were no restrictions on leaving the country. On February 26, he flew from Vnukovo Airport to Navoi and returned to his permanent residence.

️ In court, N.M. fully confessed and expressed remorse, asking for leniency. The court found him guilty under Article 154, Part 1 (Mercenarism) and Article 154-1, Part 1 (Entering the service of foreign military or law enforcement agencies) of the Uzbek Criminal Code. Under Article 154, applying Article 57 (imposition of a lighter sentence), he was sentenced to 4 years of restriction of liberty; under Article 154-1, to 2 years of correctional labor with 20% wage deduction.

️ By partial consolidation, the final sentence was 4 years and 1 month of restriction of liberty. The court prohibited N.M. from leaving his residence in Kattakurgan district, changing his address without probation authority permission, and traveling outside Samarkand region. Supervision is assigned to the probation department of Kattakurgan district.
