A tragedy occurred in the Marhamat district of the Andijan region on the premises of a medical association. Four employees died from asphyxiation during repair work on the sewer system.

The incident happened on June 10 at around 11:00 a.m. According to preliminary data, a malfunction occurred in the sewer system, and a plumber descended into a technical room to fix it.

Due to lack of air, he fell ill, and one by one, an electrician, a driver, and a gardener went down to help him. The men lost consciousness and died on the spot. The victims were aged 38, 54, 57, and 60.

The Marhamat district police department has opened a criminal case on charges of violating labor safety rules. The regional prosecutor's office confirmed that the investigation is under its control, and necessary forensic and other examinations have been ordered to determine the exact causes of the tragedy.

Regional authorities have taken control of the situation. The regional administration expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, provided assistance in organizing funerals, and promised a thorough investigation. At the instruction of the regional governor, his deputies arrived at the scene to examine the circumstances.
