At a recent technology presentation, Chery introduced its latest development — the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain. This system allegedly redefines the efficiency and economy of family cars. It is based on a specialized fifth-generation 1.5GDI hybrid engine paired with the industry's first continuously variable hybrid transmission DHT.
The combination reportedly delivers an incredibly low combined fuel consumption of just 1.7 liters per 100 km, with a total range of up to 1,200 kilometers. However, these impressive figures are not a one-off achievement but the result of 28 years of continuous development.
In April 2026, Chery sold 251,386 vehicles (up 25.2% year-on-year), with monthly exports exceeding 177,000 units — an absolute record among Chinese automakers. Deliveries of new energy vehicles (NEV) reached 100,276 units, showing a 63.8% increase.
In the first quarter of 2026, Chery sold 76,825 vehicles in the UK and EU markets, a 241% increase year-on-year. Of these, 39,415 were NEVs (up 729%). In March, Chery claimed second place among all automotive brands in the UK and became the only Chinese brand in the top 10.
Chery's journey began in 1997 with a project to develop its own engine. In 1999, the first self-developed engine and assembled car rolled off the line. In 2002, the company partnered with Austrian engineering firm AVL to build an advanced R&D system. In 2005, the first fully independently designed engine, the NEF1, was launched. In 2025, the fifth-generation CSH hybrid technology was introduced.
In Uzbekistan, Chery officially started operations in October 2022 in partnership with ADM Global. The debut hybrid model was the Arrizo 8 Hybrid sedan presented in autumn 2025. On May 30, 2026, the Chery Super Hybrid Launch Day marked the official launch of the CSH platform and the new flagship crossover Tiggo 9 Hybrid.
