Three individuals were caught attempting to illegally transport non-standard gold ingots and jewelry through the 'Dustlik' border customs post in the Andijan region, the State Customs Committee reported.

During inspection of luggage belonging to two women entering the country, one was found to have hidden three gold ingots inside a mascara container.

Her companion tried to smuggle gold pieces concealed in a perfume bottle and a pen.

Additionally, another citizen passing through the same post was found to have hidden jewelry inside his traditional skullcap (doppi) during a personal search.

The seized non-standard gold ingots have been placed in temporary storage, and an investigation is underway.

According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 244, the duty-free import allowance for personal goods through vehicle and pedestrian checkpoints is set at $300.

This requirement also applies to jewelry, which must be finished products and not intended for commercial purposes, the Customs Committee reminded.
