Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The deputy mayor of Qarshi, Nurbek Turdiev, has been fined 41.2 million Uzbek soums following an investigation into forced labor practices.

Earlier, videos circulated on social media showing the first deputy mayor forcing employees to work on weekends and treating them rudely. The State Labor Inspectorate conducted an inspection and confirmed the fact of forced labor.

The official was subjected to administrative punishment under Article 51 (“Compulsion to labor”).

Additionally, a submission was made to the administration of the Kashkadarya region to review Turdiev's actions before the ethics commission due to his treatment of employees.

It was previously reported that an investigation had been launched in Qarshi against the deputy mayor following reports of rude behavior towards subordinates.
