President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Albania Bajram Begaj held negotiations with official delegations at the Koksaroy residence, according to the press service of the Uzbek president.
At the outset, Mirziyoyev emphasized the historic significance of the first-ever summit in bilateral relations, stating it would elevate cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
The sides noted with satisfaction the intensification of political dialogue and contacts at various levels, as well as mutual support within the UN and other international organizations.
Focus was placed on expanding trade turnover and preparing a broad cooperation program in agro-industry, green energy, geology, IT and digitalization, tourism, and other key sectors.
Opportunities to use Albania's Durres port as a logistics hub for exporting Uzbek products to Southern European and Mediterranean markets were explored.
The importance of expanding the legal framework for economic and investment cooperation was emphasized.
To advance the economic agenda, an agreement was reached to establish an Intergovernmental Commission, with its first meeting to be held in Tashkent this year.
In the cultural-humanitarian sphere, the sides stressed the importance of organizing mutual Culture Days, film screenings, exhibitions, and creative visits.
The leaders also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.
