The press service of the Tashkent city administration reported on June 16 that almost half of the waste removed from the city daily consists of garbage dumped in unauthorized places. According to data from relevant services, such waste accounts for about 40% of the total volume.

The administration emphasized that the issue goes beyond maintaining cleanliness. Cleaning up illegally dumped waste consumes time, effort, and resources of landscaping workers, which could otherwise be used for greening, tree and flower care, and maintenance of ditches, streets, and public spaces.

“Every bag left by the road, in a yard, on a sidewalk, or near a container is an additional burden on the people who make the city cleaner every day,” the statement said.

The administration urged residents to treat Tashkent with care, respect the work of city service employees, and dispose of waste only in designated areas. “A clean city does not start with cleaning. It starts with the attitude of each of us,” the administration noted.

Previously, the Tashkent city administration announced plans to create business, residential, and recreational zones along the Chirchik River. As part of this initiative, the “Daryo Bo‘yi Business City” urban development project was presented.
