On June 18, heavy rains in the mountainous areas of Zomin and Baxmal districts of Jizzakh region caused mudflows, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the Baxmal agrometeorological station of Uzhydromet, 13.8 mm of precipitation fell over 5 hours and 30 minutes. Starting at 20:20, a mudflow of 2-3 cubic meters passed along the Gallaorol-Baxmal highway.
The Public Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that officers from the police, emergency services, National Guard, local administration, and other agencies arrived at the scene. The mudflow passed through the village of Jo‘m-Jo‘m, the “Jo‘m-Jo‘msoy” recreation area, and the Nushkent neighborhood.
32 vacationers were promptly evacuated to safety. No casualties or injuries were reported. Residential buildings, livestock, and structures were not damaged.
However, a bridge leading to the recreation area was partially damaged. Two cars, a Damas and a Gentra, were damaged after being caught in the mudflow. The consequences have now been fully eliminated.
It should be noted that Uzhydromet had warned of possible mudflows and floods on June 20-22 in several districts.
