On June 18, a mudslide occurred in the mountainous and foothill areas of Bahmal district, Jizzakh region, triggered by heavy rainfall.
According to the Department of Internal Affairs, the mudslide flowed along the bed of a mountain river passing through the village of Jum-Jum. There were 32 people at the “Jum-Jumsoy” recreation area located in the area. The flow also affected the territory of the Nushkent mahalla before continuing along its natural course.
Law enforcement officers from the crime prevention, patrol, and traffic safety services, as well as representatives of the Emergency Situations Ministry, National Guard, local administration, and other relevant agencies arrived at the scene for a prompt response.
No casualties or injuries were reported. All vacationers were quickly evacuated to a safe location.
The mudslide partially damaged a bridge leading to the “Jum-Jumsoy” recreation area and three vehicles caught in its path (two Damas and one Gentra). Residential buildings, livestock, and other structures were unaffected.
The consequences of the mudslide have been fully eliminated.
