A senior investigator from the Davlatabad district police department in Namangan, identified as D.O., has been convicted for covering up a rape case and falsifying documents. Kun.uz reviewed court documents.
On March 14, 2025, a woman identified as D.K. reported being raped by a man named V.V. at an airline ticket office. Investigator D.O., exceeding his authority, drafted a false statement claiming the sexual act was consensual and forged V.V.'s signature.
Based on the fabricated evidence, D.O. issued a decision refusing to open a criminal case. He also created a fake document purportedly from the district prosecutor's office, using the deputy prosecutor's electronic signature.
Forensic examination confirmed the signature was forged. The deputy prosecutor overturned the refusal, but D.O. destroyed the case materials to avoid further investigation.
Subsequently, V.V. committed two more rapes: on June 29, 2025, against a minor, and on July 30, 2025, against a 20-year-old woman. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
In court, D.O. pleaded not guilty, claiming he did not forge the signature. However, witness testimony and evidence proved his guilt.
On March 30, 2026, the Namangan city court sentenced D.O. to 3 years and 1 month in prison, with a 3-year ban from holding positions in internal affairs. An appeal reduced the term to 3 years and 25 days.
