Over the past five years, the number of drug-related crimes in Uzbekistan has nearly tripled, rising from about 6,000 cases in 2021 to over 15,000 today.
The volume of seized narcotics has doubled, while synthetic drug seizures have increased sevenfold. Since 2021, authorities have detected clandestine drug laboratories operating in the country.
At a press conference held by the Agency for Drug and Firearm Control, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Otabek Choriev and other officials presented the data.
In the first part of 2026, customs and law enforcement agencies seized approximately 1.8 tons of narcotics, over 140 kg of potent substances, and about 1.6 tons of precursors used in drug production.
In cooperation with foreign law enforcement, 11 international controlled delivery operations were conducted to track illegal shipments to end recipients.
Earlier, a joint operation by the State Security Service and customs uncovered a clandestine synthetic drug lab in the Chilanzar district of Tashkent.
