On the International Day Against Drug Abuse, Uzbekistan's State Security Service (SSS) and other law enforcement agencies burned nearly 2.3 tons of confiscated narcotics in Tashkent.
According to the SSS press service, the destroyed substances included 78.4 kilograms of heroin, 426.4 kilograms of opium, and 646.6 kilograms of hashish. Synthetic drugs such as 131.4 kilograms of Alpha-PVP and nearly 62 kilograms of mephedrone were also incinerated.
Additionally, 69.2 kilograms of pregabalin and other banned substances were destroyed. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at hundreds of millions of Uzbek soums.
It is worth noting that over the past five years, the number of drug-related crimes in Uzbekistan has nearly doubled (2.5 times), while the volume of seized synthetic substances has increased sevenfold.
