Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The preliminary results of Uzbekistan's first modern census of population and agriculture have identified 985,400 hectares of additional land areas. These plots were discovered by comparing satellite imagery with state cadastre data.

According to the National Statistics Committee, 32.1% of the identified land consists of plots leased from the reserve of local administrations. Another 22.6% are forest fund lands and water bodies, 13.5% are household plots, and 9.4% are pastures.

The census also clarified data on the country's agriculture. The total area of agricultural land amounted to 4,826,420 hectares, and fish farming reservoirs to 652,847 hectares.

As of the census date, Uzbekistan had 12.2 million head of cattle, 20.3 million sheep, 2.8 million goats, nearly 120.9 million poultry, and 917,000 bee colonies.

Earlier, the National Statistics Committee announced preliminary population census results, showing that Uzbekistan's population reached 39,047,321 people – almost double the last census in 1989. This figure also exceeds the current demographic estimate by 810,617 people.
