In the Karmana district of Uzbekistan's Navoi region, authorities have taken administrative measures against a person who allowed a 7-year-old boy to drive a HOWO truck. Additionally, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the parents for leaving the child unsupervised, the regional traffic police department reported.
According to the department, a video widely shared on social media showed a child driving a large truck. The incident occurred in September 2025, when the boy was 7 years old.
An investigation revealed that the boy's cousin (his aunt's son) had allowed him to drive the truck. "I made a mistake thinking I was teaching him to drive. I didn't realize it would go this far," the cousin said in the video.
The traffic police noted that despite intensified preventive and awareness efforts, cases of allowing minors to drive vehicles still occur.
The department stated that administrative protocols were drawn up against the citizen who enabled the child to drive and the parents who left the child unsupervised, under relevant articles of the Administrative Responsibility Code.
They were also explained the possible consequences of such actions and shown an impactful video.
It should be recalled that Uzbekistan has proposed stricter penalties for allowing minors to drive. A presentation at the president's office noted that such cases lead to severe road accidents.
Earlier in Tashkent, a father who allowed his minor sons to drive at 130 km/h within a neighborhood was jailed for 5 days. The man also insulted a neighbor who objected and started a brawl. The court found him guilty of petty hooliganism, and the vehicle was impounded.
In late February, a traffic police inspector, Xosilbek Eshnazarov, was killed when a BMW M4 driven by a teenager struck him. According to reports, the driver was a 16-year-old schoolboy. He is suspected of car theft and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm.
