A few days ago, the national dance 'Andijan Polka' was officially recorded in the Guinness World Records. To achieve this, 20,000 people simultaneously performed the dance at the Bobur Arena stadium in Andijan.

On June 23, six 8th-grade students from School No. 14 in Asaka district were involved in a road accident while returning from a rehearsal. The car was driven by the school's principal. One student, 15-year-old Farrukh Nematov, died, and another remains hospitalized.

The event was organized under the initiative of TURKSOY, as Andijan was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2026. A Guinness official confirmed that the dance met all requirements.

Elyorbek Kholmirzayev, head of the regional administration's secretariat, stated that this was part of a long-planned project to promote the region's brand internationally.

Choreographer Abdulaziz Yusupov noted that the dance was performed after 15 days of training, calling it an unprecedented record for Uzbekistan.

According to the traffic police, a separate bus was provided for the students, but they arbitrarily traveled in a Damas car, which collided with a ZIL truck.

The victim's mother, Durdona Kosimova, said her son had never been involved in such events before. 'My son became a victim of the system,' she said.

Father Nodirbek Kosimov returned from Russia and went straight to the funeral. He reported that his son's kidney and liver were damaged, and despite surgery, he died.

The mother believes that children's safety must be prioritized in such events. 'What was the point of gathering so many children for a piece of paper?' she asked.
