Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Alisher Kadyrov, who had previously sharply criticized the Uzbekistan national team during the World Cup, spoke at a meeting with the players and stated that the team had made history.
According to him, the players withstood serious pressure and did the main thing for the country — for the first time they brought Uzbek football to the level of the world championship. Kadyrov noted that until recently the team could not dream of more than the Asian level, but now it has become part of the 'World Cup family'.
'These guys made history. They faced the hardest test. They carried a great burden and brought us to the World Cup. We are proud of you. It is very easy to unite around a victory, but to be able to rally around a team in a moment of defeat is also a quality of our people,' he said.
At the same time, the politician emphasized that just reaching the World Cup is no longer enough. Alisher Kadyrov also expressed confidence that by the next World Cups the team will approach with more anger and character, and Uzbekistan will be able not only to get out of the group but also to go further.
Earlier, after the defeat to Portugal, Kadyrov called for parting ways with some players, and after the loss to DR Congo, he rated the coach's work, the goalkeeper's play, team spirit, and points scored as 'zero'.
