President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 4 inspected the completed work and the operation of trade and service facilities on Yangi Sergeli Street in the Ittifoq mahalla of Sergeli district.

The tourism, trade and service facilities created on Yangi Sergeli Street, operating 24/7, are designed to provide comfortable conditions for the population, develop entrepreneurship and create new jobs.

The total cost of the project amounted to 18.7 billion soums. The infrastructure on the 2.1-kilometer section of the street has been fully modernized and turned into a round-the-clock area combining trade, catering and entertainment facilities.

To create conditions for residents' recreation and promote a healthy lifestyle, more than 10 children's playgrounds, 8 workout zones, a bookstore and a leisure center for the elderly have been set up here.

More than 21,000 people live in four mahallas adjacent to this area. On average, 15-20 thousand vehicles pass along Yangi Sergeli Street daily. After the project is fully commissioned, it will be possible to serve over 1.2 million visitors per year.

The project has created more than 250 new jobs. 95 business entities expanded their activities, and another 22 started new businesses.

The head of state walked through the mahalla territory, inspected houses renovated in the national architectural style, landscaped streets and amenities created for residents. He also had a warm conversation with activists and residents of the mahalla.

The president inquired how the ongoing transformations affect the living standards and well-being of the population. Mahalla activists noted that these changes positively affect the mood, lifestyle and income of the population, changing both the appearance of the territory and people's confidence in the future.
