Approximately 20 citizens of Uzbekistan faced an unpleasant situation at Tbilisi International Airport. They were denied entry into the country at passport control.

This became known after a video appeal to the Podrobno.uz editorial office from one of the tourists. According to him, they had all the necessary documents: return tickets, hotel reservations, medical insurance, and financial means for their stay. The reasons for the refusal were not explained.

Border service officers issued written notices of refusal of entry to the tourists. The reason stated was that "the person does not provide information or provides false information about their identity and purpose of travel." All documents are available to the editorial office.

In the footage, people are seen on a bus on the airport premises. Passengers reported that there were women and children among them. One of the applicants also claims that people were kept on the bus for about two hours without returning their passports.

A similar situation was faced not only by citizens of Uzbekistan. In one video, a woman from Kyrgyzstan stated that this was the third time she had been denied entry to Georgia and sent back without explanation. She said she could not get a clear answer even through the Georgian consular service.

The Podrobno.uz editorial office contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan for comment. The ministry noted that no reports of affected citizens had been received so far, but they would study the information and clarify the reasons for the incident. Officials also added that there is no Uzbek consular office in Georgia.

It is worth recalling that yesterday, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a state visit to Georgia. During the talks, the sides agreed, among other things, to open an embassy of Uzbekistan in Tbilisi.
