Social media reports emerged that during construction works on Shota Rustaveli Street, a sewage pipeline was damaged, causing wastewater to flow into the Salar canal.

By order of the head of the Main Department of Ecology and Climate Change of Tashkent city, an operational working group was formed and dispatched to the scene. The group included specialists from the department's analytical laboratory for environmental monitoring, climate change adaptation and hydrometeorology, as well as state inspectors from the Yakkasaray district environmental inspection.

The inspection found that during construction work, due to negligence, the sewage pipeline was damaged, resulting in direct discharge into the Salar canal.

Specialists from the analytical laboratory took water samples from the canal and sent them for laboratory analysis.

It was noted that based on the laboratory analysis and completion of the inspection, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the established procedure regarding the identified violations of environmental protection legislation. Additional information will be provided following the inspection.

Recall that a few days ago, a major ground collapse occurred at a residential complex construction site in Yakkasaray district. The accident was caused by a technical malfunction in the sewer network. Pipeline damage led to water leakage, which eroded the soil, causing subsidence and subsequent collapse.
