Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The famous Kokand halva, a traditional dessert from the Fergana Valley, has been officially registered as a geographical indication. The decision was made by the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

It is noted that Kokand has long been considered a center of craftsmanship and national confectionery traditions. The unique technology for preparing halva, which ensures its special taste and quality, was developed here and is known both domestically and abroad.

Granting the status of a geographical indication provides legal protection for the product's name and its traditional production method. This will help preserve the authenticity and high quality standards of the product.

Experts emphasize that the registration is important for promoting the gastronomic heritage of the Fergana region and strengthening the national brand on the international stage.

A geographical indication confirms that the quality, reputation, and special characteristics of a product are linked to a specific territory, its natural conditions, and cultural traditions.

Earlier, Chust pilaf received the status of a geographical indication in Uzbekistan.
