In the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded 447 work-related accidents, resulting in 494 injured workers, 137 of whom died. This was reported by the State Labor Inspectorate.
According to the inspectorate, 21 of the accidents were group incidents, 311 had severe consequences, and 113 were fatal. Of the 494 victims, 337 sustained severe injuries, 20 sustained minor injuries, and 137 died.
By region, the highest number of accidents occurred in Tashkent city — 95. It was followed by Tashkent region (58), Kashkadarya region (38), Bukhara region (34), Samarkand and Andijan regions (33 each), and Navoi region (31). The lowest numbers were recorded in Khorezm (13), Surkhandarya and Jizzakh regions (16 each).
By sector, most accidents occurred in industry — 144. Construction followed with 127, other sectors with 87, transport and logistics with 17, trade and services with 16, healthcare and agriculture/water management with 14 each, and education with 13. The fewest were in culture and sports (2), information technology (3), and law enforcement (4).
The State Labor Inspectorate stated that a total of 10.376 billion soums were collected as one-time and monthly payments for the victims and their families.
It is worth recalling that in the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded 198 work-related accidents. 62 people died and 146 were seriously injured. Most incidents occurred in Tashkent city and Surkhandarya region. The majority were in industry and construction.
Earlier, a 25-year-old man died in the Yashnobod district of Tashkent after being crushed by a concrete slab. The accident occurred at a construction site during working hours.
