Uzbekistan and Belarus have agreed to extend the period citizens can stay in each other's countries without registration from 3 to 10 days. This was announced by Amir Sultonov, head of a department at Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel, commenting on the results of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Belarus.

According to him, the relevant changes are enshrined in a protocol amending the Agreement on Mutual Travel of Citizens, signed in the presence of the two heads of state.

"The signed protocol on mutual travel of citizens extends the period of stay without registration on the territories of the countries from 3 to 10 days. This will undoubtedly make visiting relatives and friends, tourist and business trips significantly more convenient," said Amir Sultonov.

Following the talks held on July 9, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko signed a Declaration on Establishing Strategic Partnership Relations. Additionally, a "roadmap" for developing trade and economic cooperation for 2026−2030 was adopted, and a number of agreements were signed in agriculture, science, culture, tourism, social protection, labor migration, and emergency prevention.

The Agreement on Mutual Travel of Citizens between the governments of Uzbekistan and Belarus was signed on January 19, 2005 in Tashkent. It entered into force on July 25, 2006 and is valid indefinitely.

Earlier, Uzbekistan and Belarus also concluded an agreement on labor migration. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed readiness to accept labor migrants from Uzbekistan together with their families. He emphasized the country's need for labor and the possibility of providing medical care and education to arrivals: "There is the will of the presidents, there is support, we need to act."
