Uzbekistan's Supreme Court has updated its list of sources and content deemed to contain religious extremist, terrorist, and sectarian ideas, as of July 13. The import, preparation, storage, distribution, and display of these materials are prohibited on the territory of Uzbekistan.
The updated list includes 1,915 items, a significant increase from the previous version. The last update was in April of this year, when over 1,800 channels, pages, and materials were listed. This is the third update of the list this year (previous updates were on January 10 and in April).
The Supreme Court stated that the list is compiled to combat religious extremism and terrorism. The court issued a warning to citizens, especially youth and parents: "Always beware of falling into the trap of religious fanaticism, extremism, and terrorism. Do not allow them to destroy your life and dreams."
This measure is part of Uzbekistan's state policy to control internet content and prevent the spread of radical ideas. Authorities emphasize that such materials can foster extremist views among young people.
