As of July 1, more than 2.57 million residents of Uzbekistan have activated the 'Credit Lock' service, which allows them to ban the issuance of loans in their name. This was reported by the Credit Information Analytical Center (CIAC).
Over the past year, the number of users of the self-lock service has increased more than 77-fold. On July 1, 2025, only 33,100 people used the service; by October 1, that figure had reached 149,500; by January 1, 2026, it was 438,300; by April 1, it had grown to 2,208,000; and by July 1, it had reached 2,574,000.
The majority of those who have set a self-lock are men: nearly 1.5 million people, or 58%. Women account for 1.08 million users, or 42%.
The largest age group of users is citizens aged 26–35: 764,943 people (30%). This is followed by those under 26 — 647,651 (25%), aged 36–45 — 609,665 (24%), aged 46–55 — 319,354 (12%), and those over 56 — 232,413 (9%).
The voluntary self-lock service was launched on June 6, 2025. It allows citizens to add or remove their data from the registry of persons prohibited from concluding loan agreements. This measure was introduced under a law signed by the president on March 4, aimed at protecting citizens from fraudulent loan origination without their knowledge.
Previously, Gazeta reported that in 2023, loans worth 19 billion soums were fraudulently issued in the name of 2,790 citizens without their knowledge, and in the first eight months of 2024, 874 individuals were affected, with 36.6 billion soums allocated to them.
The lock service can be activated via the CIAC mobile app, the personal account on the credit bureau's website, the Unified Interactive State Services Portal and its mobile app, as well as through in-person visits to State Service Centers or the credit bureau.
The lock can be canceled through the state services portal, its mobile app, State Service Centers, or directly at CIAC. The service is provided free of charge.
