President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, currently in Doha, met with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Lusail Palace. At the outset of the talks, he expressed condolences over the death of the Emir's father, former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that Sheikh Hamad Al Thani was a statesman who made a significant contribution to Qatar's historical achievements, large-scale construction, rapid socio-economic reforms, and the country's growing international prestige. His effective work in developing and strengthening close friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries was particularly highlighted.
The Uzbek leader acknowledged that Qatar today plays an important role in ensuring peace and stability in the region, and noted the emergence of the "voice of Doha," which has a major influence on the international stage. The two leaders discussed strengthening strategic partnership, elevating multifaceted relations to a new level, and topical international and regional issues.
In turn, the Emir of Qatar thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his personal visit during these difficult times, sincere condolences, and friendly support. At the end of the meeting, the Uzbek leader invited the Emir of Qatar to visit the country at a convenient time.
Following the meeting, the President concluded his visit and departed from Doha to Tashkent.
