A 47-year-old resident of the Kitab district in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region died from rabies after being scratched by a fox cub, the Ministry of Health reported. He was hospitalized on July 10 with suspected dangerous infectious disease.

Epidemiological investigation revealed that the man had been scratched by a fox cub about a month prior. He died the day after hospitalization, on July 11. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to confirm the cause of death.

As a precaution, three residents of the 'Varganza' mahalla have undergone medical examinations. No clinical signs of rabies were found. They are currently under medical supervision and receiving preventive vaccination.

Specialists from the regional health department, sanitary-epidemiological service, and veterinary service are fully monitoring the epidemiological situation in the Kitab district.

Authorities urged the public not to panic and to avoid spreading unverified information.
