Rescue services in the Namangan region are continuing to search for a man who reportedly drowned while swimming in the Syr Darya River. Divers are examining the riverbed while surface searches are also being conducted.
According to the regional emergency management department, a call was received at 18:26 on July 12 reporting that a 27-year-old resident of the Puchugoy mahalla in Fergana region's Uchkuprik district had drowned while swimming.
The incident occurred on a stretch of the Syr Darya flowing through the Ok yer mahalla in the Namangan district. Preliminary reports indicate the man went underwater due to carelessness.
Divers from the special search and rescue unit of the regional emergency department are currently examining the riverbed, while fire and rescue personnel are searching the water surface.
"Search operations are ongoing; additional information will be provided upon their completion," the department stated.
Earlier, three teenagers drowned in the Zarafshan River in the Navoi region. Their bodies were found several days later.
