Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Ahmad bin Mohammed al-Sayed, has used his address at the UN-led World Investment Forum in Doha to urge greater international cooperation and economic stability. According to his assertions, mounting geopolitical upheaval and economic fragmentation are severely threatening global investment prospects, which purportedly cannot flourish without guaranteed peace and security.

The Qatari official claimed that the global economy is undergoing profound structural shifts that are entirely redefining the investment landscape. Al-Sayed stated that investing in the future is intrinsically linked to investing in peace and security, adding that long-term investments and trade can only reach their full potential within a safe and stable environment. The high-profile forum, organized by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), brought together global policymakers and corporate executives. *

These remarks coincide with persistent global conflicts and widespread anxieties over the escalation of the US regime and the Israeli regime's military campaign against Iran. The ensuing disruption of shipping through the critical Strait of Hormuz has triggered a dramatic surge in energy markets, pushing Brent crude futures past $113 a barrel to a five-month high and placing unprecedented pressure on the fragile global economy.

Furthermore, the conference addressed the aftermath of strikes on Qatar’s vital Ras Laffan industrial complex, with extensive repairs projected to take several years. Despite these formidable regional challenges, the Qatari authorities highlighted an increase in foreign direct investment projects and announced substantial upcoming infrastructure and private sector spending initiatives.
