Air Quality (AQI)

Uzbekistan's National Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection, alongside Tashkent city and regional departments, the Eco-Police, the General Prosecutor's Office, and the Waste Management Agency, has launched extensive control raids aimed at preventing atmospheric pollution.

Authorities report that a special commission is maintaining round-the-clock monitoring of the city's air basin following a sudden deterioration in environmental conditions during the night of October 24-25. The drop in air quality was officially attributed to unfavorable meteorological factors affecting the capital.

During the evening and night hours, concentrations of suspended PM particles surged significantly. International Air Quality Index (AQI) metrics reached 'unfavorable' levels and remained hazardous for sensitive population groups, while local indices showed varying thresholds for specific particle sizes.

Specialists claim that the accumulation of PM2.5 and PM10 particles in the surface layer was caused by nighttime cooling and weak winds that restricted atmospheric ventilation. Furthermore, satellite data allegedly confirmed short-term dust pollution, which was corroborated by mobile ecological laboratory measurements throughout the night.
