A man who posed as an employee of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office has been arrested in Gulistan. According to the investigation, he promised citizens to resolve property return issues for money and used his fake position to eat for free at a local establishment.

The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that the suspect was detained during operational measures conducted by the internal security departments of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Department.

According to investigators, the suspect promised one citizen assistance in returning 292 gold items worth a total of 462.9 million soums, which had been seized in a criminal case against his acquaintance. For his services, he demanded and received $2,500.

The investigation also established another episode. The man regularly visited the Shukran teahouse in Gulistan, where after eating he introduced himself as the head of the city department of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office. Threatening the establishment's owners with tax inspections and closure, he evaded paying bills for a long time.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code. During the investigation, he has been taken into custody in accordance with Article 221 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The Prosecutor General's Office urged citizens not to trust individuals who offer to resolve issues on behalf of state bodies for a fee and to report such cases to law enforcement agencies.

Earlier in Tashkent, another fake employee of the Prosecutor General's Office was arrested, who deceived citizens out of billions of soums and tens of thousands of dollars under the pretext of assisting in resolving court issues.
