A criminal case has been opened in Tashkent following an attempt to build a business center on the site of children's and sports grounds in the Lolazor neighborhood of Mirabad district. The alleged de facto head of the developer company has been detained, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

The story gained widespread public resonance after residents protested against the construction. The head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, intervened, instructing the Prosecutor General's Office to check the legality of construction in courtyards, children's and sports grounds, and other public areas of the capital.

The inspection revealed that the plot, which was on the balance sheet of the public charitable fund 'Mahalla', had been transferred to Al-Latif Hearts Tower for reconstruction and construction of additional facilities. However, after residents' protests, the investment agreement between the fund and the investor was terminated.

Despite this, in June 2026, a building with an area of 172 square meters, which was on the fund's balance sheet, was demolished on the site. According to the investigation, significant damage was caused to state interests.

Following the inspection, on July 27, the Mirabad district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case against officials of Al-Latif Hearts Tower and other persons under relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Asliddin Ikromov, whom the investigation considers the actual head of the company, has been detained on suspicion of committing the crime.

The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are expected to establish all circumstances, provide a legal assessment of the actions of those involved, and take measures to restore the children's and sports grounds.
