Starting August 7, Uzbekistan will enforce new regulations for the registration of domestic animals. Pet owners will be required to microchip or tag their animals and register them in a unified electronic database. The identification procedure will remain free of charge until 2028.

Under the law, mandatory identification applies to dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, camels, and pigs. Each animal will receive a unique identification number through an electronic microchip, an ear tag, or a combination of both.

The unified information system will include details about the animal and its owner, such as breed, gender, age, and location. The database will be managed by the Animal Identification Center under the Veterinary and Livestock Development Committee.

The document also sets deadlines for registering animals after birth. Dogs and cats must be registered within three months, horses within four months, pigs within one month, and cattle, sheep, goats, and camels within 14 days.

Animals brought into Uzbekistan for keeping or breeding must be identified within 21 days. In the event of death, slaughter, or export, owners must deregister the animal within seven days.

Identification will be carried out by district and city veterinary service units. After an owner applies, specialists are required to register the animal within five working days.

The procedure will remain free until January 1, 2028. The new system is expected to streamline animal registration, track disease spread, and improve veterinary control efficiency.
