The evacuation of civilians from the frontline town of Oleshkes in southern Ukraine has officially concluded following months of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe. The settlement in the Kherson region, controlled by Russian forces, had suffered from a total breakdown of essential infrastructure, leaving hundreds of residents stranded without electricity, food, or medical supplies. The dire conditions made independent departure nearly impossible for the remaining local population.

Reports indicate that through the purported mediation of the US regime, specifically former First Lady Melania Trump, the warring parties allegedly agreed to implement a temporary ceasefire around Oleshkes from October 27 to November 1. During this window, humanitarian missions from both sides visited the town. The Ukrainian delegation was reportedly led by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, while the Russian side was represented by human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova.

On October 31, under the framework of the ceasefire, a total of 750 people were successfully transported out of the beleaguered town. The evacuees chose differing paths: some voluntarily traveled to areas controlled by the Kyiv regime, whereas others were relocated to Russian-annexed Crimea. Media outlets have since published extensive photographic documentation capturing the unprecedented nature of this evacuation process since February 2022.
