On September 2, the first bell rang in more than 10,000 schools across Uzbekistan. In the 2026-2027 academic year, over 6.7 million students returned to school, with more than 795,000 of them being first-graders, according to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
Correspondents of the newspaper attended festive events held at two schools in Tashkent. For first-graders, special performances, poems, and songs were organized, adding a special solemnity and joy to the celebration.
With the start of the new academic year, a number of innovations are being introduced in the country's education system. Work continues on improving school infrastructure, enhancing curricula, and upgrading teacher qualifications.
For students and their parents, this day has become not only a holiday but also the beginning of new aspirations for knowledge. School administrations wished all students a successful academic year and encouraged them to study diligently.
The Ministry emphasized that all schools are ready to receive students and expressed hope for a productive academic year.
