A basement pool containing Siamese sharks has been discovered in an apartment building in Fergana, Uzbekistan. The find was made during a raid by the Housing and Communal Services Inspection Authority.

Inspectors found that a resident had illegally seized part of the communal basement and connected a water supply to a large tank where the sharks were kept. The unauthorized use of common property and illegal water consumption were documented.

The individual was fined under Article 163, Part 1 of the Administrative Responsibility Code. He has been ordered to dismantle the pool, vacate the premises, and restore the basement to its original condition within 15 days.

Siamese sharks are actually freshwater fish, named for their shark-like appearance, but they are not true sharks.

The inspection authority reminded citizens that basements and other common areas in residential buildings must not be used in violation of legal requirements.
