Starting September 1, 2026, Uzbekistan has raised fines for traffic violations following an increase in the base calculation amount (BCA) to 440,000 soums. The new rates apply to all types of offenses, significantly increasing the financial burden on drivers across the country.

The adjustment comes as authorities recalculated fines and state fees stipulated in the Administrative Responsibility Code, multiplying each violation by the corresponding BCA coefficient. For instance, the most severe violations now carry a fine of 40 BCA, equivalent to 17.6 million soums, along with a three-year driver's license suspension.

Certain offenses, such as driving under the influence or posing a serious threat to road safety, are subject to fines of 50 BCA (22 million soums) or administrative detention for up to 15 days. Additionally, fines of 30 BCA (13.2 million soums) with a three-year license suspension are also applied.

It is worth recalling that in February 2026, the practice of administrative warnings was introduced. Under this provision, if an individual sincerely repents and no other signs of violations are present, the authorized body may issue a warning instead of a fine. However, this concession cannot be applied more than once within a year.

Experts note that while the increased fines aim to improve road safety, they impose additional financial strain on the population. Many drivers have expressed dissatisfaction, as fines may now constitute a substantial portion of monthly income for ordinary citizens.
