As previously reported, Mirzo Botirov, a chief specialist at the control department of the Aydar-Arnasay lake system under the State Environmental Control Inspection, died while apprehending violators on the Syr Darya River.

During the raid, individuals engaged in illegal fishing using an electric rod were identified. The violators resisted the inspector, causing him to fall into the water and drown.

According to UzNews.uz, citing the Prosecutor General's Office, a criminal case has been initiated against three individuals under Article 202 (Violation of the order of use of wildlife or flora), Article 219 (Resistance to a representative of authority or a person performing civic duty), and Article 102 (Causing death by negligence) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

The citizens have been detained as suspects. Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.

This incident raises serious public concerns about the safety of environmental inspection officers and the effectiveness of combating illegal fishing. Experts emphasize the need to strengthen protection measures for inspectors and take tough actions to prevent such tragedies.
