President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to the Republic of Korea on September 13-16 at the invitation of President Lee Jae-myung, the Uzbek president's press service reported.
During the visit, the head of state will hold talks in Seoul with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in narrow and expanded formats, as well as meetings with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik, Prime Minister Han Seong-suk, and heads of major Korean companies and financial institutions.
The talks will focus on "further strengthening and expanding the special strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Korea, deepening cooperation in priority areas, and enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges," the statement said.
The president will also attend the first "Central Asia — Republic of Korea" summit, which will discuss prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, digital transformation, science, technology, and many other areas.
A Seoul Declaration is expected to be adopted at the end of the event. The document is expected to outline priority areas for bilateral and regional cooperation.
