Uzbekistan's first national team has won bronze at the FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities. The team secured third place at the home tournament in Samarkand.

In the final, seventh round, Uzbek chess players defeated the Israeli team with a score of 2.5:1.5. Thanks to this victory, the team scored 11 points and took third place in the final standings.

The gold medal went to Poland, while Cuba took second place. In total, 41 teams from 36 countries and 164 chess players participated in the competition. Uzbekistan, as the host country, fielded three teams.

For Uzbekistan, this bronze is the first medal in the country's history at this tournament. The third Olympiad also set a record for the number of participating teams.

Earlier, it was reported that the 46th World Chess Olympiad started in Samarkand. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished the participants good luck and noted the development of Uzbekistan's chess school.
