Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, during a visit to the Uzbekfilm studio announced the need to overhaul the industry's management system. According to her, the state should abandon its role as a customer interfering in the creative process and become a strategic partner providing conditions for development and financial support of cinema.
"Our common task today is to turn Uzbekfilm into a national brand and a supporting center of Uzbekistan's modern film industry," Mirziyoyeva wrote. She emphasized that private film studios, independent producers and authors should become the main driving force of the industry.
Plans include modernizing the entire film production system — from financing and distribution to theatrical release, participation in international festivals and film exports. Special attention will be paid to preserving, restoring and digitizing the national film heritage, as well as training new specialists and international exchange of experience.
Mirziyoyeva stressed the need to form a professional environment and a culture of self-regulation in the film industry, where the opinion, experience and authority of directors and other creative professionals are valued.
At the end of the visit, the head of the Presidential Administration visited the set of a historical film about the childhood of Abu Ali ibn Sina. She noted the large-scale decorations and the work of the creative team, wishing the filmmakers success. "See you at the premiere!" Mirziyoyeva concluded.
