In Tashkent's Almazar district, a 13-year-old boy fell into a canal while trying to retrieve a ball from the water. He was rescued by employees of a restaurant located near the water. This was reported by the "Millar" program.
According to the capital's Emergency Situations Department, the incident occurred in one of the mahalla communities located near the water in Almazar district. Children were playing ball near a stadium when the ball fell into the water. The 13-year-old boy climbed onto a large pipe to get it and fell into the water at that moment.
As the boy was being carried away by the strong current, he was spotted by employees of a waterfront restaurant. One of the workers jumped into the water after him, and then his mentor also came to help. While trying to catch up with the boy, they grabbed first one tree, then another, but the trees broke. After that, leaning on a broken tree floating in the water, they pulled the boy to the shore.
"People from above were also trying to save the boy, they were passing sticks. But the current in the middle was very fast. When I jumped into the water, the boy was floundering and climbed onto me, almost drowning me," said the restaurant employee.
According to the boy, he was very scared when he was carried under the bridge. According to him, under the bridge there was almost no space between the water level and the bridge, and it became difficult to breathe. Then he saw light and managed to raise his head out of the water.
"I thought it was all over. Then I saw light and immediately raised my head out of the water. Two people jumped into the water, and three more pulled from above. If a ball or anything else falls into the water, let it be carried away. There is nothing more valuable than a person's life. Thanks to those who saved me," he said.
A representative of the Emergency Situations Department said that the boy's current condition is good. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital and is under medical supervision. According to him, if the boy had not been pulled out of the water in time, the current could have carried him towards the hydroelectric power station, and it would have been very difficult to save his life.
According to the Emergency Situations Department, it is planned to award the waiter who saved the boy.
Earlier, a drowning 13-year-old boy was rescued in the Bozsu canal in Tashkent. A post-patrol service inspector and a man came to the boy's aid and pulled him out of the water.
