Residents of Tashkent have been advised to prepare for short-lived dust storms on October 4, which are expected to materialize immediately prior to anticipated rainfall. The alert was issued by the special commission established to monitor and improve the ecological situation in the capital.

According to international weather forecast models and data from Uzhydromet, a moist air mass is moving into the Tashkent area. This atmospheric transition will bring variable winds blowing at speeds of 3 to 8 meters per second, with gusts potentially strengthening up to 10 to 14 meters per second across certain districts.

The sudden gusty conditions are likely to kick up loose soil and dust from the ground, causing a temporary spike in the concentration of particulate matter, specifically PM10, in the ambient air. The special commission emphasized that real-time air quality monitoring remains underway across the city to track any hazardous shifts.

Earlier, Uzhydromet warned that a front of cold and humid air would penetrate Uzbekistan between October 3 and October 5. This system is forecasted to deliver widespread rainfall, which may turn to snow in higher mountainous elevations, accompanied by localized winds reaching up to 22 meters per second and patchy fog.
