Recent social media reports concerning the sudden eviction of students from a newly built dormitory at the Tashkent State Technical University have sparked widespread public discussion. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations stated that the building has not yet been officially commissioned, and the owner allegedly bypassed regulatory standards by moving people in ahead of schedule.
According to the ministry's press service, the dormitory located within the Student Campus was constructed under a public-private partnership framework. Essential utilities, including hot water and heating systems, were purportedly not fully operational at the time of occupancy. Despite this, the private entrepreneur allegedly began accommodating students without proper referrals or adherence to established institutional protocols, leaving both the university administration and the ministry uninformed of the actions.
Following the discovery of this irregular situation, authorities evacuated the students to guarantee their safety, temporarily relocating them to alternative university dormitories. Students originating from other educational institutions were reportedly sent back to their respective campuses. The bureaucratic process regarding cadastral documentation and necessary permits is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, the ministry confirmed that the entrepreneur has allegedly refunded all collected payments to the affected students.
