Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent have reported the apprehension of a motorist in the Chilonzor district who was allegedly found in possession of 4.5 grams of hashish. The individual reportedly attempted to discard the illicit substance while authorities were conducting a routine vehicle inspection.
According to official details, the intervention was triggered by the vigilance of a local resident. At approximately 23:00, the citizen noticed a suspiciously behaving vehicle and approached patrol officers to request an inspection. The search, conducted in the presence of attesting witnesses, yielded a brown substance with a pungent odor that was subsequently identified as hashish.
During questioning by law enforcement personnel, the suspect supposedly offered profuse apologies and asserted that he would allegedly never use narcotics again. He further proposed testing to determine his current sobriety and admitted to having a history of consuming banned substances in the past.
The case materials have currently been transferred to the Chilonzor District Internal Affairs Department for further processing. Authorities are reviewing the incident to determine appropriate legal qualifications under paragraph 'a', part 2 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which penalizes the possession of narcotic drugs without the intent to distribute.
Observers note that this incident highlights ongoing challenges with substance control, following another recent arrest at the 'Uch Kahramon' checkpoint. In that previous case, a Spark vehicle passenger attempted to flee authorities during a search, leading to the subsequent discovery of 1.5 kilograms of mephedrone, 120 grams of alpha-PVP, scales, and packaging materials at his residence.
