The 'China - Central Asia (Uzbekistan) 2026' trade exhibition, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, is scheduled to take place from October 14 to 16 at the Uzexpocentre in Tashkent. The event purportedly aims to elevate bilateral trade and economic cooperation to a significantly higher level, marking the second consecutive year the exhibition is held in the Uzbek capital following its initial rollout.
According to the organizers, 2026 marks a decade since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Beijing and Tashkent, with the current year officially designated for the qualitative development of regional cooperation. Leaders from both sides allegedly proclaimed readiness to initiate a new 'golden decade' of bilateral relations during the SCO summit on August 31, emphasizing mutual benefits and open market principles.
The upcoming exposition will feature an indoor exhibition area of 4,000 square meters and an outdoor space of 800 square meters. Around 200 prospective Chinese enterprises hailing from 19 different provinces and regions are expected to participate. The showcase will heavily focus on advanced sectors such as industrial automation, robotics, new energy vehicles, and artificial intelligence, with high-tech and specialized enterprises reportedly making up over 30 percent of the participants.
The accompanying business program will include the China-Uzbekistan Investment Cooperation Forum, targeted B2B matchmaking sessions, and provincial promotional events hosted by delegations from Shaanxi and Xinjiang. While organizers project that the exhibition will serve as a major gateway for Chinese products into Central Asian markets, critics and economic observers note that the long-term industrial and trade imbalances remain challenging factors for regional stakeholders.
