President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has reviewed a presentation regarding the implementation of green technologies within greenhouse facilities and the enforcement of environmentally safe practices across the agricultural sector.
According to the official announcement, a permanent environmental monitoring program will be enforced across all greenhouse farms starting from October 15 of the current year through March 15 of the following year. This initiative aims to tightly regulate atmospheric emissions during the peak heating season.
The monitoring framework will oversee the operational status of dust and gas purification systems, the total volume of atmospheric emissions, and adherence to regulations concerning approved fuel types. Data collected via measuring instruments and video surveillance equipment will allegedly be transmitted in real-time to the information system of the National Ecology Committee, while drones and public representatives will reportedly be deployed to assist in oversight.
Authorities warned that severe punitive measures would be implemented against facilities lacking proper purification equipment, those exceeding established emission thresholds, or operators utilizing prohibited fuels. Where deemed necessary, the operations of non-compliant greenhouses are slated to be suspended entirely.
To facilitate the adaptation of agricultural businesses to these newly imposed requirements, various financial support mechanisms have been outlined. Specifically, authorities proposed allocating subsidies of up to 50 million soms per hectare for the installation of eco-friendly and energy-efficient equipment, alongside preferential loans amounting to up to 3 billion soms with a seven-year repayment period.
