The Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan has reported widespread regulatory violations within public procurement processes across six different regions of the country. According to the findings, local budgetary organizations allegedly engaged in practices that severely restricted fair competition, compromising public tender integrity. The total value of the scrutinized questionable transactions approaches nearly 10 billion sums.
Significant irregularities were notably uncovered in the Fergana region, where the Fergana District State Road Maintenance Enterprise conducted seven separate procurement procedures worth over 2.5 billion sums in apparent violation of established rules. Similar anti-competitive practices were documented at the Chust District Medical Association in the Namangan region, involving transactions close to 1.8 billion sums. Additional violations involved entities in the Andijan, Jizzakh, Navoi, and Samarkand regions, encompassing specialized educational facilities and state forestry enterprises.
In response to these findings, regional divisions of the Anti-Monopoly Committee have initiated formal proceedings against the procuring organizations and issued strict compliance directives to rectify the violations. Officials noted that financial penalties have been imposed in specific cases, while comprehensive documentation regarding the more severe infractions has been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for further legal evaluation and potential prosecution.
